2010 IIFA awards and weekend will be held this year at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo Sri Lanka.From June 2 to June 4. IIFA ambassador Amitabh Bachchan recently launched the voting for the awards in a public event.
Talking about this golden opportunity Achala Jagoda, the country’s Tourism Minister, tells a financial daily that Sri Lanka competed with several other countries to host the event. And now as it finally emerges as an official host for this year’s award ceremony, it’s an “international achievement” for the nation.
IIFA started in the year 2000 with the first ceremony held in London at The Millennium Dome. With the aim to take Indian cinema worldwide, the awards in the past were held in countries like Malaysia, Singapore, The Netherlands, UAE, England, Thailand and twice in South Africa.
And for 2011, IIFA will move to Toronto.
The Cricket match between Bollywood stars and Sri lankan Cricket team will be held on 4th of June 2010 at the Colombo S.S.C. ground 1200h.
